Home Health/Hospice Billing Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION  

The Home Health and Hospice Billing Manager is responsible for supervising the billing office staff and monitoring the billing and collection systems as necessary to ensure the process is performed accurately, timely, and professionally. In addition, the Manager will work collaboratively with office locations throughout the nation on accounts receivable issues. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Supervise and train billing staff, monitor and analyze bad debt reserves, overpayments, and deferred revenue
  • Oversee patient account billings, collections, cash postings, and management of receivables
  • Monitor reimbursement trends from commercial and government payers
  • Maintain payment rate database for yearly contracted payments (i.e. Medicare, Medicaid, BCBS, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable of billing system software for ongoing billing issues (i.e. insurance payers updates, error messages, services maintenance, billing code maintenance, source of payment codes maintenance)
  • Prepare billing reports for month end close, year-end audit and Medicare cost report
  • Collaborate with home health and hospice locations throughout the country on Accounts Receivable issues and further education on policies and procedures.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of Provider, Company, and patient information.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE  

  • Associate's degree or equivalent education and work experience is required.  
  • A minimum of five years of experience working in the home health or hospice billing industry
  • A minimum of three years of management / supervisory experience is required
  • Extensive background using clinical billing software and electronic claims submission
  • Knowledge of home health and hospice Medicare/Medicaid compliance
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, verbal and written (end user support documentation, policies and procedures, etc).

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE  

  • Bachelorís degree is preferred.
