Area Director of Operations

Visiting Physicians Association, a national leader in delivering home based primary care, works with home health and hospice agencies to ensure patients receive continuity of care in the home environment. VPA in-home physicians collaborate with agencies to establish in-home treatment plans and certify the need for services. VPA partners with over 1,000 home health agencies, collaborates with independent and assisted living communities, and works with skilled nursing facilities and hospitals nationally to coordinate services and patient transitions to home care.


The Area Director of Operations is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the administrative, clinical, and community relations area while carrying out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures for multi facilities within a region.


  • Responsible for hiring, staff development, performance reviews, and proper training for management and Physicians
  • Directs and coordinates administrative, clinical, and community relations for offices within a specified region
  • Oversees annual goals, objectives, and budgets for clinical operations, as well as for local Community Relations events and partnerships
  • Oversees annual master plan for community visibility activities throughout the regional referral area
  • Ensures company policies and procedures, as well as local and state laws are observed and adhered to within assigned region
  • Directs and coordinates all system data for billing and referral purposes
  • Supervises medical and physician staff to ensure quality of patient care
  • Other duties, projects, and responsibilities as assigned


  • Strong clinical and reimbursement knowledge
  • Extensive practice administration experience
  • Healthcare leadership experience with profit and loss responsibility
  • Minimum of 3 years experience overseeing multiple medical, surgical, or other health care offices
  • Must be able to relate professionally and positively to Physicians/Practitioners and staff with excellent communication, interpersonal, and management skills
  • Must have strong computer skills, including EMR experience
  • Ability to travel required


  • Registered Nurse
  • Bachelorís degree in Nursing
  • Healthcare business development and local marketing experience
