Diagnostic Support Specialist

Visiting Physicians Association, a national leader in delivering home based primary care, works with home health and hospice agencies to ensure patients receive continuity of care in the home environment. VPA in-home physicians collaborate with agencies to establish in-home treatment plans and certify the need for services. VPA partners with over 1,000 home health agencies, collaborates with independent and assisted living communities, and works with skilled nursing facilities and hospitals nationally to coordinate services and patient transitions to home care.

POSITION DESCRIPTION  

Under the direction of the Operations Manager provides scheduling, dispatch, reporting, and support
functions on a rotating and as needed basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Scheduling duties including:
  • Coordination with dispatch to maximize field technician productivity and capacity, local VPA
    office contact and coordination
  • Order requisition creation
  • Insurance and billable diagnosis verification
  • Processing orders according to approved scheduling/turnaround protocols and proper
    documentation of all scheduling attempts
  • Dispatch duties including:
  • coordination with scheduling and field technicians to maximize technician capacity and
    productivity
  • Development and management of efficient daily routing of assigned technicians
  • Update appointment statuses in all relevant systems
  • Complete order requisitions with required billing information and daily completion of the STAT
    tracker with required information
  • Reporting duties including:
  • Ensuring timely exam interpretation
  • Performing QA checks and corrections on all reports to ensure achievement of applicable
    standards
  • Documentation of relevant turnaround time information
     Verifying required information exists in the PACS
  • Coordinate with management and billing to reconcile missing information and denials
  • Report distribution as needed
  • Support duties including:
  • Assigning studies in PACS to appropriate interpreting physician
  • Processing report and image requests
  • Contacting ordering providers with required results
  • Management of incoming fax2mail files
  • Close external orders and enter required information in the EMR
  • Assists other DSS staff as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE  

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2+ years of customer service or administrative experience
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, and computer skills
  • Flexible, detail-oriented team-player who works well under pressure

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE  

  • Previous healthcare experience
